Understanding our copyright practices and how to request removal of infringing content
At CarUpdates we respect intellectual property rights and expect our readers, contributors, and partners to do the same. This page explains how we handle copyright concerns and how to file a takedown request if you believe your copyrighted work appears on CarUpdates.in without authorization.
1. Copyright Notice
- All original content on CarUpdates (articles, reviews, images created by our editorial team, graphics and video produced by us) is protected by copyright law.

- CarUpdates respects applicable copyright law, including the Copyright Act, 1957, and follows applicable intermediary rules and safe-harbour practices.
- When necessary, we may coordinate with our hosting provider, platform partners, or legal counsel to resolve copyright disputes.
4. How to Submit a Copyright/DMCA Takedown Request
If you are the copyright owner (or an authorized agent) and believe your work has been used on CarUpdates.in without permission, please send a written notice containing all of the following:
- Your full name, postal address, email address, and telephone number.
- Clear identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (title and description). If multiple works are covered, provide a representative list.
- Exact URL(s) on CarUpdates.in where the allegedly infringing material appears.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
- Your electronic or physical signature (typing your name and date is acceptable for electronic notices).

5. What We Will Do After Receiving a Notice
- We will review all notices promptly and may remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material while we investigate.
- Where appropriate we may forward your notice to the author, contributor, hosting provider, or other relevant party.
- We aim to acknowledge receipt of valid takedown requests within 14 calendar days and will keep you informed of actions taken. (If more time is needed for complex matters we will notify you.)
6. Counter-Notification / Response by the Content Poster
If content is removed and you believe it was removed by mistake, the poster may send a counter-notification containing all of the following:
- Your full name, postal address, email address, and telephone number.
- Identification of the content that was removed (original URL and, if known, the URL where it appeared).
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the courts in India (or, if the poster is outside India, the poster’s local jurisdiction) and agreeing to accept service of process.
- Your electronic or physical signature.

After receiving a valid counter-notification, we may restore the content unless the copyright claimant files a legal action seeking a court order to restrain the poster. We will also notify the party who submitted the original takedown.
7. Repeat Infringers
CarUpdates reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts, contributor access, or comment privileges for repeat infringers.
